I wanted to make some zines based on animals that people know and love, and owls are very popular! I drew several kinds of owls resting on a branch, and the dark blue of the paper, along with the white eyes, makes my birds look bright and watchful.

I create the zines by making a pencil or ink drawing, copying the drawing onto colored art paper, then adding detail in white gouache on the final print, to make each zine truly unique, and cutting and folding to make the accordion. I tie a string to the top of each zine for possible hanging. Each zine goes in a clear envelope with a cover sheet, autographed on the back.
